Rajasthan โ meaning "Land of Kings" โ is India's largest state by area and arguably its most spectacular. Once ruled by fearless Rajput clans who built an astonishing array of forts and palaces, the state today captivates travellers with its golden desert landscapes, turquoise and blue painted towns, ornate havelis, world-class luxury hotels in former palaces, and a culture so vivid and alive it feels like stepping into a painting.
Rajasthan has a city for every kind of traveller: the Pink City of Jaipur for heritage and shopping, the Blue City of Jodhpur for dramatic forts, the Golden City of Jaisalmer for desert magic, the Lake City of Udaipur for romance, and the holy town of Pushkar for spiritual experiences. No wonder it's one of India's most visited states.
